4.  Keep parents aware of important dates through such means as newsletters, holiday notes, and online.

5.  Provide the most equal learning opportunities for all students.

6.  Provide a safe and healthy environment for dance.

7.  Respond positively to requests by students or their parents
for a discussion about any aspect of the student’s training by making an appointment as soon as possible.  We will not step out of a class to discuss these issues... it needs to be outside of class time.

8.  Properly teaching technique and dance education involving “hands-on” instruction as well as verbal instruction in the areas of Tap, Ballet, Jazz and Baton.

Parent Agreement

  1.   As a parent, I understand that a positive attitude and continued support is necessary in order for my child to continue the privilege of participating in the school’s program. I also understand that if I choose to have a negative attitude or cause volatile scenes in any way, my child and I will be asked to leave the school.

  2.  I understand that Armstrong School of Dance reserves the right to refuse service  to any person who does not support the policies and practices set forth.

  3.  I understand that I should not compare my child to any other dancer and that I should be supportive and nurturing of my child’s development in dance.

  4.  I understand that my child is obligated to the class(s) she begins in the Fall and  therefore to those routines during each
recital. Should she decide to drop from a section of a combination class, I understand she will not be allowed to dance either routine in the recital or any  other routine as it relates to the situation.

  5.  I understand that dance education  required “hands-on” instruction as well as verbal instruction. Instructors will regularly correct my child by touching their arms, legs, feet, hips, back and head to move them into the correct position. Instructors may also verbally correct my child during class but will do  so using respect and courtesy to the  individual and class. I know my child will be required to know the routines and practice at home.

  6.  I understand the instructors will determine class placement based on technique and I am willing to support their decision.

  7.  I understand that if I have a question or concern regarding the policies or practices made by a staff member that I will request a personal appointment with the appropriate party. I understand I am not allowed to form a group of parents for the purpose of presenting issues or complaints, but that I should address the issue as it affects my child individually and privately.

  8.  I have read and discussed with my child the safety and security issues for the School of Dance and Civic Center.

  9.  I understand that my child is required to attend class on a regular basis and I am willing and able to deliver my child to  class 10 minutes prior to class time. This is especially important the month prior to a performance.

10. I understand that there is no perfect  answer to post show pick up but I promise to work with other parents, backstage volunteers and studio officials to make this process as painless and safe for our children as possible.

11.  I understand that all the steps taken by Armstrong School of Dance and its staff are in the best interest of the Studio  and are in attempt to deliver a positive learning experience for my dancer.
